A recent study found a positive link between chronic disease management and fewer Medicaid claims for low-risk congestive
heart failure patients, but its findings for high-risk CHF patients and diabetics were statistically insignificant. The study,
undertaken by researchers from the Indiana University School of Medicine, the Regenstrief Institute, and the School of Public
and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, was published in the May/June issue of Health Affairs.
The 23-month study did not reach any conclusions about long-term clinical outcomes, due to its brief time period.
